“Best Gifts for This Christmas Season”

So, it’s that time of the year again. Here’s the scoop on some of the hottest tech toys this year.

1. Android tablets – These things are still awesome. They were awesome last year; they are even
more awesome this year. With the latest releases of the Android OS (ICS and Jellybean), and
the increased firepower available via dual-core processors and the increased memory capacity,
these little beauties are faster and more beautiful than ever. And you don’t have to buy an Apple product to
get a killer tablet.

2. Windows 8 tablets – Windows 8 has a lot going for it. To their credit, I believe that Microsoft has successfully established a “cool” factor to this latest generation of its flagship product. In case you don’t watch TV at all, they really amped up their marketing this time around, and I believe it’s starting to pay off. Along with the uppity marketing, however, comes uppity pricing. (Sound familiar?) The good news is that–as with anything–you get what you pay for. Windows 8 tablets are very sleek and powerful. My favorite is the Microsoft Surface. If you have the dough to drop on one of these bad boys, it’s a good pick.

3. Ultrabooks – I have an ultrabook. And it’s amazing. It’s fast, it’s sexy, and it’s a multimedia powerhouse. Intel has coined and trademarked this term ultrabook, and really made a good run with it. Simply put, an ultrabook is a netbook on steroids—and crack—having been set on fire, while being chased by helicopters and ninjas. They are very attractively designed and pack a whallop in the hardware category. My ultrabook is the Lenovo U310 with Intel discrete graphics. I whole-heartedly recommend it.

Well , I hope that helps! Good hunting!
